The Goals of ArkOS
ArkOS is designed with the following objectives:
- Highly Customizable: Tailored to individual preferences.
- Performance-Oriented: Optimized for efficient operation.
- Online Updates: Updates do not require SD card reflashing unless there are significant structural changes, such as filesystem updates.
- Ease of Use: Simplifies the retro gaming experience for all users.
Origin and Development
ArkOS began as a fork of "The Retro Arena (TheRA)," aimed at supporting ROM management via an NTFS partition. This allows users to manage ROMs by simply inserting the SD card into a Windows 10 card reader. Over time, ArkOS evolved significantly from its predecessor, incorporating community feedback and gaining its distinct identity as "Another rk3326 rockchip Operating System."
